This group will provide psychoeducation in a supportive space to learn about human sexuality. Group members will explore:
Why sex education is important, what form of sex education you've had (or not), and what comprehensive sexuality education provides
Mindfulness techniques for learning to be present with your body as a core foundation of good sexual health
Sex-positive education on male and female sexual anatomy, physiology, and sexual response
Understanding your own sexual arousal and response
Sexuality in popular culture and pornography
Masturbation education and skills training
Consent and mutuality in partnered sexual activity
Broadening an understanding of sexual pleasure beyond a penis in a vagina
Understanding how negative childhood experiences can impact sexual functioning.
Literature, videos, and integrative psychoeducational materials will be used. The goals of the group are psychoeducational and to empower group members to move towards healthy sexuality through debunking false information about sex and confronting their own negative beliefs.
